Small Business Information
Small business information is available from a large number
of sources.
There are many trade magazines that focus exclusively on
providing small business information. These magazines can be purchased from
your local news agent or you can borrow them from a library.
Your chamber of commerce can provide valuable small business
information. For example, they can put you in touch with other small businesses
in your area or industry experts.
Some government departments, such as the United States Small Business Administration, also publish free small business information, such as statistical information. Again, most of this information
is available at your local library. You may also want to contact appropriate
government departments directly, since they often will be able to provide
publications free of charge or at a nominal fee.
The Business Information Center (BIC) provides support and small business information to entrepreneurs and managers. Assistance covers a wide area, ranging from marketing, finance and human resources to management. BIC maintains a reference library with many books and videos. They also offer seminars, workshops and individual counseling sessions. Many of the services and small business information are offered free of charge.
