Netiquette

Netiquette refers to the etiquette that is required on the Internet. It specifies the do’s and don’ts of communication over the Internet. This is the behaviour that is expected from people who access services on the Internet.

Netiquette requires people only to post relevant articles on discussion boards. On some boards, commercial postings may be acceptable, as long as they are on topic. Also netiquette forbids people from using all upper case in discussion forum postings. Doing so is perceived by some people as shouting and not well perceived. If you do see somebody posting a message in all upper case, tell them politely. Good netiquette dictates that you should be polite to them and not flame them.

Netiquette also requires people not to send out spam (unsolicited commercial bulk email) or abuse any other resources. Most people hate spam and it is extremely bad netiquette to send it out.

Also, remember that some people are still using low-bandwidth modem connections. Good netiquette requires you not to send large images by email. It might take the other person hours to download.
